Mid-Year Fave's

The new ‘Maybelline FITme! Anti-shine stick’

I’ve been testing out different brands of foundation and going from creams, to mousses, to liquids but came across the TV advert for the anti-shine stick at 3am one day. Don’t know what caught my eye about it but I was interested and found myself buying it at Boots a week or so later. I’m incredibly impressed to be honest. It’s small and compact so I can throw it into any of my bags that I take out, because it’s in stick form (much like the consistency of a tube concealer) it’s non-mess and it’s super easy to blend. The colour, surprisingly, blends into my transparent skin tone incredibly well so any of you pale ladies (or gentlemen, I don’t judge), I would really recommend this product to use as a daily foundation.

Got2b powder’ful

For anyone with short layers/short hair especially, this styling product is fab! It’s definitely made hair styling in a morning before work quicker and simpler. Just a little sprinkle, rub it together in your palms and tussle…or sprinkle it straight to your hair and ruffle and walaah! So now my layers are shorter, it’s a great quick fix for my hair, though I did use it when I had longer hair too. You know when you have freshly washed hair and it’s too clean to do anything with? This is great for that. Sprinkle some powder near the routs and backcomb away, brilliant for those flyaway days.

Primark Home scented candle

For £2, I bought a decent sized scented candle from my local Primark. I love candles, I love scented items and I love reasonable prices. So this was great in all senses. I’ve been burning my purple ‘juicy blueberry and blossom’ candle every night before bed for the past couple weeks and my room smells gorgeous and I’ve still got two weeks of use left of use in it at least. I’m a sucker for falling asleep to candlelight (unsafe, I know) and it seems to make sleep come easier and more soothing when it’s to such a lovely smell and a dim glow of a flame.

Lush
I’ve recently become a Lush lover. i went in with a friend one day and sat there with one of the shop assistants for two hours just trying things out and her giving me a hand massage with all the different products that she would recommend for my skin type. It was such a lovely experience. You would think a complete stranger rubbing your hands/arms for hours would be uncomfortable, not at all. Lush is such a friendly place. But I do have some products that I’m in love with so far and
these are:
Angels On Bear Skin – this is a facial cleanser that acts as an exfoliator also. It has a strong smell of lavender, with obvious lavender pieces and it just smells refreshing as heck. It’s not like any kind of cleanser I’ve used before. You have to get a small amount of it in your hand and mix it with water until you get it to a paste like consistency before applying to your face. The promises on the lid are that it will ‘evens out skin tone, reduce redness and improves health and appearance of your skin, giving it a natural healthy glow’ and I totally agree. Does everything it says it will, and more – my skin got so soft after using it
Rehab – this is a shampoo which is definitely called rehab for a reason. It’s done wonders for my chemically damaged hair and it’s given my head a lot of life back. It’s a god send and I’m so glad I got recommended it. It’s got a minty type smell and it leaves your hair feeling healthy and shiny.  A definite re-buy and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s got dead or damaged hair – it’s a miracle shampoo.
Retread ‘a heavier weight conditioner that is there for you in times of trouble’ ; ‘drive your hair in for some serious breakdown recovery. This conditioner is a pit stop for your hair’. Again, I completely agree with the labelling, everything in Lush seems to be described perfectly on the tubs. This conditioner (used alongside my Rehab shampoo) is bloody wonderful and makes my hair feel like silk

Skeleton Hair Clips
I kept seeing these around tumblr constantly and I loved them. So I bought some from a seller on ebay and they’re wonderful. And I love them to pieces. I think look fantastic and they just add something to your hair. I really enjoyed wearing them around work.

Monday Morning Mind

Does anyone else feel like it’s just one of those mornings? Y’know, one of those where no matter what you do, nothing seems to go the way you want? It seems like it’s not just me having one – I see all over my newsfeed (Facebook) that people have forgotten their passes to college, or have tripped up, or missed the bus. I can even look over my desk and see my manager jumping back and forth from his desk and the meeting room as he’s forgotten something each time he’s stepped away – fifth time lucky?
Anyway, back to an actual blog post. I don’t plan on going on about how crappy a Monday morning is, as I’m sure you all feel my pain in that department. On the other hand, I have no topic in mind so this is going to be the most unstructured piece of writing that I’ve put out to date. That’s a Monday morning mind for you! We’ll see where my fingers take me.
Warm Bodies. After a night out on Saturday evening which ended up with a busted up knee from whacking it off of a table, I decided I needed an easy Sunday with as little movement as possible. So I whipped out the ice-cream and decided to watch a film under the covers with a hot water bottle (and with that, why is the weather on such a crappy decline here in the UK?!). I saw the adverts for Warm Bodies on TV and really wanted to go to the Cinema to see it, but completely missed my chance which was a bummer – but saw recently that it’s out on dvd, fab! So I got that on, got comfy and was content for the next 98 minutes.
I have to say I really enjoyed it. One of my top three favourite films is Zombieland, so had a feeling I’d be disappointed by this one in comparison. I was happily surprised, though, as I was gripped to the screen. I thought it was incredibly well written, had a great casting and was just an all-round great watch. I’m thinking about watching it again when I get home in fact, it’s just a great film to watch in your pj’s and to wind down to. I don’t want to give much away seen as it’s still relatively new and there will be people out there who haven’t seen it yet and still want to. But I do recommend it to anyone who fancies watching something new. With the zombie aspect of it, it’s great for the guys, and the love story kind of storyline makes it great for us girls - not even mentioning the attractive as heck lead roll, Nicholas Hoult, which will always make it a good enough reason to watch (I’m kidding! it’s good enough to watch in its own merits, not because of the attractive actors :D ). Though once you watch it, do you see the Shakespearian references(if you get my drift). I didn’t realise it was first a book, so I’m going to do the unspeakable thing of reading the book after watching the film – I wish I would have found the book first.
I’ve got your number. A few posts back, I mentioned that I was reading a book called ‘I’ve got your number’. I’ve finished it now, taking me three days in total while I fit reading around work and stuff. It’s easy enough to follow, which is good. So it was an easy read for when I just wanted to blank off the world and it didn’t take too much concentration to follow what was going on (probably helped by the snippets of extra info at the bottom of the page that I mentioned before). I enjoyed it. It was quirky, relatable and quite funny in parts. The plot is a bit farfetched is some instances, but why would you want to read a book that was easily live-able, that would be dull.
All I wish is that I had a Sam Roxton (male character) to smile his ‘breath taking smile’ at me every now and again. He seems like a good, down to earth character in the book that would be the type that you would get along with a respect a great deal. And the lead role, Poppy, was incredibly relatable to me. Being put in positions in life where you just want people to like you, and you don’t want to upset people so are constantly putting everyone else before yourself – through this aspect, I felt like I could see myself in her role. She’s seen as ‘spine-less’ by Sam at one point for not sticking up for herself…I think it was over soup. She didn’t want to send cold soup back the kitchen as she didn’t want to complain – exactly how I am! When you’re reading the last part of the book at 3AM, you feel empowered to stick up for yourself and start putting yourself first (you’ll understand if you read the book) but I don’t know whether that’s just my mind while needing sleep or if it’s because I get myself far too emotionally attached to my reading material.
Who knows.

On a little bit of a different note:
if you have read Warm Bodies...is it good and would you recomend it?
Do you have any books in mind you think are an amazing read?
Recomend me something to read!

2013 Faves

It’s such a shame that I’m crap enough to get ill when I want to start blogging on a regular basis. Damn you crap immune system! But now I’m back on the mend, sort of – and thought I’d do a somewhat easy post today- I’m just going to go through a few of my newfound favourites of 2013:

Avon’s Speed Dry Nail Polish:     So I’m an avid Avon user, and just love to try out new things in there and came across their ‘speed dry’ collection that claimed to dry within 30 seconds. I was very sceptical seen as the Rimmel London's 60 second polish is, in my eyes, crap – they have great vivid colours but no way in hell do they dry as fast as they advertised. But any way, I saw this gorgeous teal colour in the brochure and couldn’t really help myself. I recently tried it out and WOW! When it says it dries fast, it bloody does, it’s brilliant! I’m awful for being impatient for nail polish to dry so I smudge it, or get prints on it…stuff like that. But with this, it’s a perfect finish! Actually megger impressed. Really glad I bought it.

Direction by Le Riche:         When in high school, it was forbidden to have your hair any colour other than a natural tone. So as expected, when I left I went a little bit crazy. My hair now doesn’t stay one colour for long. I’ve been pink, purple, blue, silver – you name it. And that’s all thanks to Directions semi-permanent hair dye. It’s so fun and easy to use. It comes in a little pot (which usually covers my medium length hair) and has no annoying ‘mix this with that then add this’ instructions. It’s also vegetable and plant extracts so it doesn’t harm your hair – if anything, it makes it feel ten times better as it acts as a conditioner. The only problem I have ever had with the dye is it once turned my pillowcase blue after sleeping on it – but that was more my fault than anything, I don’t think I rinsed properly.  And as an added bonus, it’s not tested on animals – nice!

Oasis Summer Fruits:          This drink is GOD! I’ve recently started drinking Oasis Light and it’s brilliant, I don’t really go anywhere without a bottle. It’s got to the point at work where instead of buy three bottles a day at £1.25, I nip to Tesco’s beforehand and buy a 2 litre bottle to last me just the one day. Somewhat of an addiction developing there.  Though I really don’t get the little quotes on the lid ‘wham bam thank you ham’ and ‘quiche me baby’ - interesting design choice.

Tumblr:

I got tumblr some time last year but never really used it and frankly, didn’t really know how. It’s took until early this year to get into it, and I love it! I don’t even know what it is about just scrolling through picture after picture, but has seemed to catch on. It’s like I’ve found my people! I’ve never really met people that relate to me, but on that site, everyone seems to be very open about what they’re feeling and are going through, and it’s refreshing to see to be honest. Some people might cringe at some of the posts but it’s nice to see more than a fake smile and know you’re not on your own. Kudos to all my Tumblr amigos!  Btw, if you want to check out mine: click here

Chopsticks:        I’m going through a phase at the moment where I like to use chopsticks to eat everything! It just feels like a better way of eating and feels weird as hell using a knife and fork afterwards. It a good way of appetite control too. You’re eating slower there for giving your body chance to send signal to your brain, telling it that you’re full. You know that time when your stomach hurts and you feel sick after a big lunch? That’s because you’ve over eaten when really…you felt full possibly 10 minute before the time you actually stopped eating. so there you go.

I might do a revised version of this later in the year but for now, i think that's enough rambling, don't you? :3
